Economic Growth and Jobs

In these challenging economic times, Mike understands there is nothing more important than creating jobs. That’s why he consistently supported policies and efforts to provide access to capital, assist small businesses, open up new markets, invest in infrastructure, and make sure that our students and workers have access to training and skill development.

Mike has hosted several “Job Seekers Boot Camps” throughout the district in which he brings in experts to help folks fine tune their resumes, improve their interview skills, and speak to prospective employers.

McIntyre has a 5-point “Jobs First! Jobs for Us!” plan to “Make it in America” and get our manufacturing base back to work.  These principles include:

  1. Helping small business by loosening up access to capital, reducing cumbersome regulations and speeding up permitting times;
  2. Investing in high speed Internet and wastewater projects, so businesses have the infrastructure they need to be competitive;
  3. Working with companies and community colleges to make sure career training is matched with what businesses need;
  4. Reforming our tax code to ease the burden on small business and close loopholes for companies who ship our jobs overseas; and
  5. Investing in manufacturing and emerging markets like bio-fuels, marine biotechnology, green industries and in North Carolina’s coastal treasures.
